|data=$a A evolução dos mecanismos de cooperação viabilizou que várias espécies prosperassem em um ambiente hostil e com recursos limitados. Os humanos, em particular, se beneficiaram desse mecanismo para construir sociedades complexas, baseadas em trocas. O presente trabalho explora um dos limites dos mecanismos de cooperação: a aporofobia, a aversão aos pobres. Utilizamos métodos combinados (revisão de literatura e um modelo baseado em agentes) para abordar a participação dos sentimentos morais e do interesse próprio nos processos de cooperação. Também abordamos a possível origem da aversão aos pobres nesses processos, inclusive sob o escopo da Teoria do Processo Dual. Desenvolvemos um modelo baseado em agentes para simular a distribuição de riqueza em uma pequena economia, na qual os indivíduos agem ora movidos pelos sentimentos morais, ora movidos pelo interesse próprio. Os resultados sugerem que a combinação desses comportamentos afeta a distribuição da riqueza, o que aponta para a necessidade de intervenção em diferentes dimensões da aporofobia, dado que ela pode reduzir as ações altruístas dirigidas aos pobres.

|data=$a Abstract: The evolution of cooperation mechanisms have enabled several species to thrive in a hostile environment with limited resources. Humans, in particular, have benefited from this mechanism to build complex societies based on exchanges. This study explores one of the cooperation mechanisms limits: aporophobia, or the aversion to the poor. We used combined methods (literature review and an agent-based model) to address the combined role of moral sentiments and self-interest in cooperation processes. We also discuss the possible origin of the aversion to the poor in these processes, including under the scope of Dual Process Theory. We developed an agent-based model to simulate wealth distribution in a small society where individuals act sometimes driven by moral sentiments, sometimes by self-interest. The results suggest that the combination of these behaviors affects wealth distribution, indicating the need for intervention in different dimensions of aporofobia, given that it may reduce altruistic actions towards the poor.
