Abstract: This dissertation sought to investigate the production process of socio-spatial inequalities in Blumenau, a medium-sized and industrial city located in the state of Santa Catarina. The investigations focus on the period 1980-2023, when socioenvironmental, political and economic events had a significant impact on its sociospatial dynamics. Three aspects are highlighted as analytical nuclei that structure this research: major floods and socio-environmental disasters; the process of productive restructuring; and public investments in the road system. Using these three indicators, the research analyzes the conflicting dynamics between the spatial distribution of the population and the location of the most significant public road investments, as well as their repercussions on the process of producing inequalities and socio-spatial segregation in Blumenau. The method used comprises a significant bibliographical review, in order to understand theoretical concepts that relate to inequalities, socio-spatial segregation and the capitalist production of space, in addition to the analysis and comparison of secondary data, especially statistical and census data. These data allowed the production of several maps and tables that express and spatialize socio-spatial inequalities in Blumenau, aided by the various images included, which complement and favor the understanding of the facts presented and described. The research shows that socio-spatial segregation in Blumenau had a significant influence from adverse socio-environmental events, the process of productive restructuring and mainly State actions, with emphasis on the location of public road investments. Investigations indicate that the historical participation of the bourgeoisie in the political control of Blumenau's municipal management allowed them to produce their own privileged locations, favoring their self-segregation. A dialectical socio-spatial process was identified in Blumenau, where the popular classes were forced to move within the intra-urban space on several occasions, while the higher-income classes historically remained in the central region. Not even the frequent floods were enough to make the elites abandon their direction of expansion and move within the intra-urban space, which proved to be a specificity of Blumenau.
