Abstract: Technological research that aimed to develop gerontotechnology for the use of elderly patients, in the form of an application prototype aimed at self-care, in the pre- and post-operative period, aiming to mitigate risks and incidents. Carried out in five stages: scope review, technological prospecting, development of requirements/guidelines, content validation and development of the gerontotechnology prototype. In the scope review, sixteen studies were analyzed that resulted in content as requirements for the development of software for the elderly in the preand post-operative period. In technological prospecting, the aim was to find out what applications were available for the elderly in the pre- and post- operatively, at this stage no applications with these characteristics were found. However, the analyzed applications contributed to the construction of the prototype. In the third stage, a form was created with requirements/guidelines with 18 contents as requirements for the development of the software for the elderly in the pre- and post-operative period, covering three domains: strongly recommended guidelines/interventions, pre-operative guidelines, post-operative guidelines. In the content validation stage, 13 experts in the elderly and surgical field who worked in hospitals in greater Florianópolis and professors from the Federal University of Santa Catarina participated, all of whom were nurses. At this stage, a Content Validity Index greater than or equal to (CVI ≥ 0.70) 70% was used. Using the information obtained, the prototype was built for the elderly in the pre- and post-operative period of elective surgery, created with the application of Fixed Instructional Design through ADDIE and simultaneously, Garret's conceptual model was used to construct screens. The results are presented in five manuscripts. The first manuscript is the scoping review protocol, which brought the elements for the construction of the second manuscript that presents the scoping review with 16 analyzed studies that highlighted several aspects that should be considered for the development of requirements/guidelines for the elderly in surgical condition. The third manuscript is a technological prospection that presented the state of the art of technologies available in the Apple Store®, Google Play® and web applications. The four manuscript refers to the process of validating the contents of the developed prototype, items were used for validation, according to Pasquali, the value of the general Content Validity Index of the protocol was 88%. The fifth and final manuscript describes the prototype of the Cuid@r application, which presents a menu screen that composes an access link to the prototype, followed by a screen with six domains: pre- and post-operative care, patient rights, patient diary, important tips and a communication channel icon with the nurse, totaling 10 screens. It is concluded that the development of the prototype can provide elderly people with greater security during the pre- and post-operative periods, as well as being a tool that encourages elderly people to exercise their care autonomously and based on validated guidelines. Implementing an application aimed at encouraging self-care in elderly people can provide nurses with excellent evidence for safer and more effective care, which favors greater patient safety. This prototype application can help elderly people quickly access information regarding their surgical periods and the processes involved and will consequently serve to encourage self-care and greater safety for surgical patients.
